Did you know? The U.S. has a higher rate of preventable deaths due to medical error compared to other high-income countries.
A 2018 study found that the U.S. ranked LAST among 11 high-income countries in healthcare outcomes, including preventable deaths. The "MedToo" Movement seeks to highlight these disparities in order to advocate for systemic changes. We want to make healthcare safer for patients, and more prosperous for doctors.
The "MedToo Movement" seeks to empower patients, amplify their voices, and hold healthcare providers and institutions accountable for preventable harm, discrimination, and negligence; thereby supporting the standards and ethics of medical venues and systems. This will ultimately change the "healthcare employment crisis" that many states like Georgia are facing. Tort reform initiatives are not the answer to bring more doctors to states that struggle with growing malpractice occurrence rates. The answer is to reduce Malpractice occurrence. The answer is found in breaking the silence.

1. Expose Systemic Failures: Highlight the prevalence of medical errors, misdiagnoses, and preventable harm, which make healthcare the third leading cause of death in the United States.
2. Amplify Patient Voices: Provide a platform for patients to share their stories of medical harm, gaslighting, and dismissal by healthcare providers. This will be how our movement is unique. We will focus on the true stories and experiences of victims and survivors so that not only can healing can be fostered, but to build a growing chorus of voices. There is power in numbers. The numbers of people are well documented, but they have not had many spaces to share their stories without censure or fear.
3. Support Survivors: Provide access, information and financial support toward legal aid for their navigation of official documentation and requests for board reviews.
4. Advocate for Change: Push for systemic reforms to improve patient safety, transparency, and accountability in healthcare.
5. Combat Discrimination: Address biases in healthcare, including age, weight and pre-existing condition-based discrimination.
The "MedToo" Movement is a response to a healthcare system that often prioritizes profit over human dignity and fails to address systemic flaws that have resulted from decades of entitlement. This entitlement has been emboldened by the forced silence of patients. By shining a light on these issues, the movement seeks to:
- Reduce preventable harm and deaths.
- Ensure equitable treatment for all patients, regardless of their background or identity.
- Create a culture of accountability and transparency in healthcare, allowing physicians and healthcare practitioners to thrive ethically and professionally.

As medical error and malpractice victims ourselves, we know the weight that you carry, and we know that you might not feel heard. We encourage you to use your voice for healing and for change. We are thrilled to announce that we are working with "The National Podcast Project" and have some amazing guests already slated for the first series.
We look forward to chatting with
Helen Haskell, a nationally-renowned patient advocate and Jean Dozier, MD, of Atrium Health/Navicent Medical.
"First, do no harm." It is the great oath that we rely upon- patients and providers alike. Yet the practice of medicine carries risks. When accidents and errors occur they must be swiftly acknowledged. Unfortunately, many injured patients are sent home to die while their injuries remain intentionally concealed. Patients often leave hospitals with injuries not related to their original prognosis and their guilty physicians abscond.
In a country where approximately one-third of deaths stem from medical error, "Fighting the Third" is a raw, explosive memoir that exposes how the systems that are designed to heal, too often destroy. This is not just a survival story-it's a war cry against the negligence, gaslighting, and legal loopholes that prioritize profits over patient survival.
When a routine procedure left Hollie disabled for months, she was caught in a defeating web of malpractice, negligence and cronyism as institutions rested on the weaponization of laws initially designed to protect. From bedridden and betrayed, to validated and healing, she now wants her memoir to be a call to action. She implores other survivors to collect their voices as a chorus for change against a rigged system.
With unflinching candor, this narrative blends her Southern charm and humor into the painstaking journey of survival and heartbreak. But beyond her personal story exists a more important truth: America's healthcare machine thrives on silence. State laws shield providers, lobbyists drown reform, and preventable tragedies are too often buried in the dirt of "unfortunate outcomes.” Her story dissects these failures of American Healthcare; weaving her survivor story along with chilling data that reveals how quickly accountability evaporates when “capitalist malpractice” is confronted.
"Fighting the Third" is more than a memoir. It's a lifeline for the gaslit. It’s a manifesto for change, and a blueprint to dismantle the architecture of harm. From navigating malpractice claims to confronting cultural complacency, Hollie arms readers with tools to reclaim power-and spark a revolution where patients matter more than liability.
For readers who enjoyed "Unaccountable" by Marty Makary, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," and "Bad Blood."
Prepare to be shattered. Prepare to rage. Then, come together and let’s continue "FIGHTING THE THIRD!"
